This seven story concrete building on the crest of a mountainside overlooks Lake Tahoe to the east, the valley on the west and is located within walking distance of the ski slopes. Structural failures in cantilevered decks required their removal.
Greenbox was commissioned to propose an exterior design concept for the changes. The proposal included removing the decks to within two feet of the building and providing a bay window in its place. This stained cedar element with large glazed openings provided a contrast to the otherwise flat exterior. A wooden trellis is proposed to tie the bay windows into the building. A new paint scheme defines the massing in a new and interesting way.
The two, 2,600 square foot penthouse units are undergoing an extensive remodel, a full replacement of FF&E. Alterations to kitchens and bathrooms provide a contemporary appeal.
